A New Look

Well, I guess it’s flu season. I’ve had 2 straight weeks of sick kids, followed by a week of sick mom. I don’t know which is worse. I was hit hard on the way home from the gym Monday morning. I came home and went straight to bed with a fever, aches and pains, and chills. Poor Elizabeth watched waaay to many hours of tv this week while I tried to get rested and well.

On the bright side, I’m feeling a little better today, but since I didn’t want to get out and infect other people, I had some extra time to work on my blog. Something I’d been meaning to do for a long time. Do you like the new look?  I admit that my blog has been severely neglected. I just can’t seem to find the time to add blogging to my daily schedule. I’m trying to do better, I really do want to share with you — not only the new things I’ve made, but things that are interesting and helpful to you.

Speaking of interesting and helpful, I’d like to share 2 blogs that have been especially interesting and helpful to me. You may already read them.

The first is Skip to My Lou. If you like to make things, you should read this blog. I’ve only known about it for a month or so, but I’ve already done 2 of the projects I found there. I made these candy cane hearts for Valentine’s Day. I actually ran into $.05 boxes of leftover Christmas candy canes at Walmart after seeing this project. I was so excited — I snatched up about 6 boxes to make the hearts. I also made this oven mitt for William’s teach for Valentine’s Day. It turned out great. If I were a halfway decent blogger, I would have taken photos of those projects for my blog.

The second is Living With Lindsay, which is the blog of a friend I know “in real life.” I knew she was a very creative and talented person, but until she started this blog, I didn’t know the extent of her decorating expertise. I just love seeing how she’s decorated her home. And, as a “cleaning challenged” person, I found this chore chart of hers very helpful. I plan to adapt it for my own use. Oh, and best of all, Linsday is giving away a beautiful blue and white plate collection. So go over to her blog right now, and find out how to win it!
